Benzaldehyde D5 is used as a precursor to other organic compounds, such as pharmaceuticals and plastic additives. It is also used in the preparation of deuterium-labeled phenylalanine and synthesis of stable isotope-labeled nasturlexins and potential precursors to probe biosynthetic pathways of cruciferous phytoalexins.
