(-)-Cannabidiol-d9 usage and description
(-)-Cannabidiol-d9, also known as CBD-d9, is a synthetic isotopically labeled version of cannabidiol, a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. It is used for research purposes in the field of pharmacology, toxicology, and neuroscience.
CBD-d9 is a non-psychoactive compound that interacts with the endocannabinoid system in the body, which regulates various physiological and cognitive processes. It has been shown to have potential therapeutic properties, such as anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anxiolytic, and neuroprotective effects, without causing the intoxicating effects commonly associated with other cannabinoids, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
The isotopic labeling of CBD-d9 allows for accurate quantification and measurement in biological samples, as well as tracking of its metabolism and distribution in vivo. This is important for understanding the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of CBD, as well as its potential interactions with other drugs.
Chemically, CBD-d9 is identical to natural CBD, except for the substitution of nine deuterium atoms for nine hydrogen atoms. Deuterium is a stable isotope of hydrogen, which does not affect the biological activity of the molecule, but provides a distinct mass difference that can be detected by analytical techniques, such as mass spectrometry.
In conclusion, CBD-d9 is a valuable tool for researchers studying the therapeutic potential and mechanisms of action of CBD, as well as its interactions with other drugs and biological systems.
