2-[[(5-methoxy-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl) sulfinyl] methyl]-3, 5-dimethyl pyridin-4 (1H)-one usage and description
2-[[(5-methoxy-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl) sulfinyl] methyl]-3, 5-dimethyl pyridin-4 (1H)-one, also known as Lansoprazole, is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat acid-related disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It works by blocking the enzyme in the stomach that produces acid, thus reducing the amount of acid produced and preventing damage to the stomach and esophagus.
Lansoprazole is a white to yellowish-white crystalline powder that is sparingly soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol. Its chemical formula is C16H14F3N3O2S with a molecular weight of 369.36 g/mol. The drug is usually administered orally as a capsule, tablet, or suspension.
The recommended dosage of Lansoprazole can vary depending on the condition being treated and the patientโs age and weight. It is generally taken once daily before a meal, and the duration of treatment can range from a few weeks to several months or longer.
Like all medications, Lansoprazole can cause side effects such as headache, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. It is important to consult with a healthcare provider before taking this drug, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of liver or kidney disease.
