Vildagliptin Carboxylic Acid usage and description
Vildagliptin Carboxylic Acid is a chemical compound that is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is a metabolite of Vildagliptin, which is a commonly used anti-diabetic drug. Vildagliptin Carboxylic Acid is a potent and selective inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) enzyme, which is responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones. By inhibiting DPP-4, Vildagliptin Carboxylic Acid increases the levels of incretin hormones, which in turn stimulate insulin secretion and reduce glucagon release, leading to improved glucose control.
Chemically, Vildagliptin Carboxylic Acid is a pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid derivative with a molecular formula of C17H25N3O3. It has a molecular weight of 319.4 g/mol and a melting point of 165-168°C. Vildagliptin Carboxylic Acid is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is soluble in water, methanol, and ethanol.
In clinical studies, Vildagliptin Carboxylic Acid has been shown to be well-tolerated and effective in improving glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is usually administered orally in the form of tablets or capsules, either alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic drugs. The recommended dosage of Vildagliptin Carboxylic Acid may vary depending on the patient's age, weight, and medical history. However, it should always be taken under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
