Pyromellitic acid-d6 usage and description
1,2,4,5-Benzenetetracarboxylic Acid-d6 (BTCA-d6) is a deuterated derivative of 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA). BTCA is a white crystalline solid that is used in the synthesis of a variety of polymers, including polyimides and polyesters. BTCA-d6 is used in a similar capacity, but its deuterated nature makes it a useful tool in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy studies.
In NMR spectroscopy, deuterated compounds are often used as solvents or internal standards because they exhibit different and distinct signals than their non-deuterated counterparts. BTCA-d6 is used as an internal standard in NMR studies of polymers that contain BTCA. The deuterated version of the compound allows for more accurate analysis of the polymer structure and composition.
Chemically, BTCA-d6 has the same molecular formula as BTCA, which is C10H2O8. However, the six hydrogen atoms in BTCA-d6 are replaced with deuterium atoms, resulting in a molecular weight of 260.19 g/mol. The compound has a melting point of 321-325ยฐC and a boiling point of 747.3ยฐC. It is soluble in water and most organic solvents.
In summary, 1,2,4,5-Benzenetetracarboxylic Acid-d6 is a deuterated derivative of BTCA that is used as an internal standard in NMR studies of polymers containing BTCA. Its deuterated nature allows for more accurate analysis of polymer structure and composition.
