2-Chlorobiphenyl-2',3',4',5',6'-d5 usage and description
2-Chlorobiphenyl-2?,3?,4?,5?,6?-d5 is a deuterated form of 2-Chlorobiphenyl, a chlorinated organic compound that belongs to the family of biphenyls. It is widely used as a starting material in the synthesis of various organic compounds.
The deuterated form of 2-Chlorobiphenyl-2?,3?,4?,5?,6?-d5 is commonly used as a reference standard in analytical chemistry, particularly in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The deuterium atoms in the molecule help to enhance the resolution and sensitivity of NMR spectra, making it easier to identify and quantify other compounds present in a sample.
In addition to its analytical applications, 2-Chlorobiphenyl-2?,3?,4?,5?,6?-d5 has also been used in research studies investigating the fate and transport of persistent organic pollutants in the environment. It is known to be highly persistent in soil and water, and can accumulate in the bodies of living organisms, including humans.
From a chemical perspective, 2-Chlorobiphenyl-2?,3?,4?,5?,6?-d5 is a highly stable and non-reactive compound. Its physical and chemical properties are similar to those of its non-deuterated counterpart, with the exception of its slightly higher boiling point and melting point due to the presence of deuterium atoms.
