3-Oleoylestrone-2,4,16,16-d4 usage and description
3-Oleoylestrone-2,4,16,16-d4 is a deuterated analogue of 3-oleoylestrone, which is a naturally occurring hormone in the body that plays a regulatory role in energy homeostasis and lipid metabolism. This compound is a labeled version of 3-oleoylestrone, containing four deuterium atoms at positions 2, 4, 16, and 16 of the molecule. The incorporation of deuterium atoms in the compound enables researchers to track the metabolic fate and pharmacokinetics of the compound in vivo and in vitro studies.
This compound has been used as a research tool to study the mechanisms of lipid metabolism and energy balance. It has been shown to activate the PPARα receptor, which plays a key role in fatty acid oxidation and energy expenditure. This activation of PPARα leads to increased energy expenditure, weight loss, and improved glucose tolerance in animal studies. It has also been shown to decrease food intake and suppress appetite in animal models, suggesting a potential role in the treatment of obesity and related metabolic disorders.
In terms of chemical information, 3-Oleoylestrone-2,4,16,16-d4 has a molecular formula of C27H41D4O3 and a molecular weight of 425.65 g/mol. It is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid that is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, methanol, and dimethyl sulfoxide. The compound is stable under normal conditions and should be stored at -20°C in a dry, cool, and dark place.
