(+)-cis-Diltiazem-d3 HCl (acetoxy-d3) usage and description
(+)-cis-Diltiazem-d3 HCl (acetoxy-d3) is a deuterated form of the calcium channel blocker drug diltiazem hydrochloride. It is commonly used as an analytical reference standard in research and clinical laboratories for quantitative analysis of diltiazem and its metabolites.
Diltiazem is a benzothiazepine derivative that selectively inhibits the influx of calcium ions into smooth muscle cells and myocardial cells by blocking L-type calcium channels. This leads to decreased contractility of the heart and dilation of blood vessels, resulting in a decrease in blood pressure. Diltiazem is used to treat hypertension, angina pectoris, and certain arrhythmias.
The deuterated form, (+)-cis-Diltiazem-d3 HCl (acetoxy-d3), is useful in pharmacokinetic studies as it is an isotopically labeled compound. It helps in the quantification of diltiazem and its metabolites in biological samples using mass spectrometry techniques. It is also used in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic studies to determine the metabolic stability, absorption, and distribution of diltiazem in the body.
The chemical formula of (+)-cis-Diltiazem-d3 HCl (acetoxy-d3) is C22H26D3ClN2O4S, and its molecular weight is 448.04 g/mol. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is soluble in water and methanol. The deuterium atoms in the molecule are stable isotopes that do not affect the pharmacological properties of diltiazem.
