24-Methylenecholesterol-D7 usage and description
24-Methylenecholesterol-D7 is a deuterated form of 24-Methylenecholesterol, a naturally occurring sterol found in various plant species. It is a sterol intermediate in the biosynthesis of brassinosteroids, which are plant hormones that regulate growth and development.
In research, 24-Methylenecholesterol-D7 is commonly used as a stable isotope-labeled internal standard in the quantification of 24-Methylenecholesterol levels in biological samples. It is also used in studies investigating the biosynthesis and metabolism of brassinosteroids in plants.
Chemically, 24-Methylenecholesterol-D7 has the same molecular formula as 24-Methylenecholesterol (C27H42O), but contains seven deuterium atoms at specific positions. The deuterium atoms provide a unique mass difference that allows for accurate analysis and quantification using mass spectrometry.
It is important to note that 24-Methylenecholesterol-D7 is not intended for human or animal consumption, as its effects on living organisms have not been extensively studied. It should be handled with proper precautions and disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
