Taurochenodeoxycholic Acid Sodium usage and description
Taurochenodeoxycholic acid sodium salt (TCDC) is a bile acid that is naturally produced in the liver and secreted into the small intestine to aid in the digestion and absorption of dietary fats. TCDC has also been shown to have important physiological functions beyond its role in lipid metabolism, including regulation of glucose and cholesterol metabolism, and modulation of immune and inflammatory responses.
TCDC is commonly used in research as a model compound for investigating the structure and function of bile acids, as well as for studying the mechanisms underlying their biological effects. It has been used to investigate the effects of bile acids on various cell types, including hepatocytes, intestinal epithelial cells, and immune cells. TCDC has also been used as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of various liver and gastrointestinal disorders, such as primary biliary cirrhosis and cholestasis.
Chemically, TCDC is a steroid molecule with a hydroxyl group at position 3, a carboxyl group at position 24, and a taurine conjugate at position 12. Its molecular formula is C26H44N2O7SNa, and its molecular weight is 568.7 g/mol. TCDC is soluble in water and organic solvents, and is stable under physiological conditions. Its chemical structure and properties make it an attractive target for the development of novel therapeutic agents and diagnostic tools for various diseases.
