Tolvaptan-d7 usage and description
Tolvaptan D7 is a deuterated version of Tolvaptan, a medication used to treat hyponatremia (low levels of sodium in the blood) and fluid retention in patients with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, and certain kidney disorders. The deuterated version is used in research and development, particularly in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic studies.
Tolvaptan D7 works by blocking the action of vasopressin, a hormone that regulates the bodyโs water balance. By inhibiting vasopressin, Tolvaptan D7 allows the kidneys to excrete more water and increase urine output, which helps to restore normal sodium levels in the blood.
Chemically, Tolvaptan D7 is a benzazepine derivative with a molecular formula of C26H19D7ClN2O3. It is a white to off-white powder that is slightly soluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as methanol and ethanol.
Tolvaptan D7 is metabolized in the liver by cytochrome P450 enzymes, specifically CYP3A4 and CYP2C9. It has a half-life of approximately 12 hours and is excreted in the urine and feces.
Overall, Tolvaptan D7 is a valuable tool in the study of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, and has the potential to lead to the development of new and improved treatments for hyponatremia and fluid retention.
