Zofenoprilat-d5 usage and description
Zofenoprilat D5 is a deuterated form of Zofenoprilat, which is a potent angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor used for the treatment of hypertension. The deuterated form of Zofenoprilat is used in clinical studies as an internal standard for quantification of Zofenoprilat in human plasma and urine samples.
Zofenoprilat D5 has a molecular formula of C12H6D5N2O3S2 and a molecular weight of 319.43 g/mol. It is a white to off-white powder that is soluble in water and methanol but insoluble in organic solvents like ethyl acetate and chloroform. Zofenoprilat D5 is stable under normal laboratory conditions and has a shelf life of at least two years if stored properly.
The mechanism of action of Zofenoprilat D5 is similar to that of Zofenoprilat. It inhibits the activity of ACE, an enzyme that converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. By inhibiting ACE, Zofenoprilat D5 reduces the production of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure.
In conclusion, Zofenoprilat D5 is a useful tool for quantification of Zofenoprilat in clinical studies. Its chemical and physical properties make it a stable and reliable internal standard for the analysis of Zofenoprilat in biological samples.
