Irinotecan-d10 Hydrochloride usage and description
Irinotecan D10 Hydrochloride is a potent chemotherapy drug used to treat various types of cancer including colon, rectal, and lung cancers. The chemical name for Irinotecan D10 Hydrochloride is (4S)-4,11-Diethyl-4-hydroxy-3,14-dioxo-3,4,12,14-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido[3',4':6,7]indolizino[1,2-b]quinolin-9-yl 1,4'-bipiperidine-1'-carboxylate hydrochloride. The D10 in the name indicates that the drug contains ten deuterium atoms, which are stable isotopes of hydrogen.
Irinotecan D10 Hydrochloride works by inhibiting the activity of topoisomerase I, an enzyme that is necessary for DNA replication and repair. By blocking this enzyme, the drug prevents cancer cells from dividing and multiplying, ultimately leading to their death.
The drug is administered intravenously and its dosage varies depending on the type of cancer being treated and the patient's individual response to the drug. Irinotecan D10 Hydrochloride is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine and feces.
Like most chemotherapy drugs, Irinotecan D10 Hydrochloride has several potential side effects, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and hair loss. It can also cause a decrease in white blood cell count, which increases the risk of infections. Patients undergoing treatment with Irinotecan D10 Hydrochloride should be closely monitored by their healthcare provider to manage any side effects and ensure the drug is effectively treating their cancer.
