Nitrendipine-d5 usage and description
Nitrendipine D5 is a deuterated form of nitrendipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that is commonly used in the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. Nitrendipine D5 is a stable isotope-labeled compound that is used as an internal standard in quantitative analysis of nitrendipine in biological samples using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) methods.
The chemical formula of nitrendipine D5 is C18H16D5N3O6, and it has a molecular weight of 397.47 g/mol. It is a yellow crystalline powder that is sparingly soluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).
Nitrendipine D5 acts by blocking the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells and myocardial cells, leading to relaxation of the arterial smooth muscles and dilation of the coronary arteries. This results in decreased peripheral vascular resistance and improved blood flow to the heart, which helps to reduce blood pressure and alleviate symptoms of angina.
Nitrendipine D5 is typically administered orally in the form of tablets or capsules. The recommended dosage varies depending on the patientโs age, weight, and medical condition. Nitrendipine D5 should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney dysfunction, as well as in pregnant or lactating women.
