Anastrozole-d12 usage and description
Anastrozole D12 is a medication used to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It is a type of aromatase inhibitor that works by blocking the production of estrogen in the body, which can slow or stop the growth of certain types of breast cancer that require estrogen to grow. Anastrozole D12 is typically taken in tablet form once a day, with or without food.
Chemically, Anastrozole D12 is a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor that binds to the active site of the aromatase enzyme. This prevents the enzyme from converting androgens (male hormones) into estrogen (female hormone) in peripheral tissues. As a result, the levels of estrogen in the body decrease, which can help to slow or stop the growth of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer cells.
Anastrozole D12 is typically prescribed for women who have already gone through menopause and have been diagnosed with early-stage or advanced breast cancer that is hormone receptor-positive. It is not suitable for use in premenopausal women or men. Additionally, Anastrozole D12 may cause side effects such as hot flashes, joint pain, fatigue, and mood changes. Patients should consult with their healthcare provider to determine if Anastrozole D12 is right for them and to discuss any potential side effects or interactions with other medications.
