N-Nitroso Flecainide D4 is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of nitroso compounds. It is a derivative of Flecainide which is a class I antiarrhythmic drug used to treat cardiac arrhythmias. The D4 in the name refers to the deuterium atom present at the fourth position in the molecule. This compound is used mainly as an analytical standard in the field of pharmaceutical research. It is used in the identification and quantification of Flecainide in biological and environmental samples.
The chemical formula for N-Nitroso Flecainide D4 is C17H18D4N4O2 and its molecular weight is 322.41 g/mol. It is a yellow solid with a melting point of approximately 220-225ยฐC. The compound is sparingly soluble in water but dissolves readily in organic solvents such as methanol and acetonitrile.
N-Nitroso Flecainide D4 is known to be a potent mutagen and carcinogen. It is classified as a Group 2A carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). The compound is known to induce DNA damage by generating reactive oxygen species which can cause mutations and chromosomal aberrations. Therefore, it is important to handle this compound with caution and follow proper safety protocols when working with it.
