Anidulafungin-d11 usage and description
Anidulafungin-d11 is a deuterated form of the antifungal drug Anidulafungin. It is primarily used for the treatment of invasive candidiasis, a fungal infection that affects individuals with a weakened immune system. Anidulafungin-d11 is administered intravenously and works by inhibiting the synthesis of beta (1,3)-D-glucan, an essential component of the fungal cell wall. This action weakens the cell wall, causing the fungal cells to rupture and die.
Anidulafungin-d11 is a semisynthetic echinocandin and is chemically described as (3S,6S,9S,11R,15S,20R,21S,23S,24E,26E,28E,30S,32S,35R)-21-[(1R,2R)-2-hydroxy-1-(hydroxymethyl)propyl]-32-[(1S)-1-[(4R)-4-hydroxy-4-[4-(pentyloxy)phenyl]-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]-28-methyl-3,6,20,21,23,24,26,30,32,35-decaazatricyclo[30.3.1.0~4,9~]hexatriaconta-4,6,11,15,23-pentaene-2,25-dione.
Anidulafungin-d11 has a molecular formula of C58H73D11N11O17 and a molecular weight of 1245.38 g/mol. It is administered as a lyophilized powder that is reconstituted with sterile water for injection. Anidulafungin-d11 has a half-life of approximately 24 hours and is primarily eliminated through hepatic metabolism.
Overall, Anidulafungin-d11 is a potent antifungal drug that is effective in treating invasive candidiasis. Its chemical structure and mechanism of action make it a valuable addition to the arsenal of drugs used to combat fungal infections.
