4-Chloro-6-nitrosoresorcinol-d2 usage and description
4-Chloro-6-nitrosoresorcinol-d2 is a deuterated derivative of the organic compound 4-Chloro-6-nitrosoresorcinol. It is commonly used in biochemical research as a reagent for the detection and quantification of copper ions in various biological samples. It is also used as a chromogenic substrate for the assay of peroxidase activity.
The chemical structure of 4-Chloro-6-nitrosoresorcinol-d2 contains two important functional groups that are responsible for its biological activity. The first is the chloro group, which makes the compound highly reactive towards copper ions. The second is the nitroso group, which is responsible for the compound's chromogenic properties.
The compound is soluble in water and ethanol, and has a melting point of approximately 220°C. It is a yellow to brown colored powder, and should be stored in a cool, dry place away from light.
In terms of safety considerations, 4-Chloro-6-nitrosoresorcinol-d2 should be handled with care as it is a potentially hazardous substance. It may cause skin and eye irritation, and should not be ingested or inhaled. Proper protective equipment, such as gloves and goggles, should be worn when handling the compound.
