15-Keto Bimatoprost usage and description
15-Keto Bimatoprost is a synthetic prostamide that is used to treat ocular hypertension and glaucoma, a condition that causes damage to the optic nerve and may eventually lead to blindness. The drug works by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor, which reduces intraocular pressure and prevents damage to the optic nerve.
Chemically speaking, 15-Keto Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin analog that mimics the action of prostaglandin F2ฮฑ. It has a molecular weight of 415.57 g/mol and a chemical formula of C25H37NO4. The drug is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is soluble in ethanol, methanol, and water.
When applied to the eye, 15-Keto Bimatoprost is absorbed through the cornea and then metabolized by the liver. The drug is excreted mainly in the urine and feces. The recommended dosage of 15-Keto Bimatoprost is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening.
Like all medications, 15-Keto Bimatoprost can cause side effects such as eye irritation, dryness, or redness, changes in eye color, and increased sensitivity to light. It is important to inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing eye conditions or if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
