Ethacrynic Acid-d5 usage and description
Ethacrynic acid D5 is a deuterated derivative of ethacrynic acid, which is a loop diuretic used to treat edema associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disease. The deuterium labeling makes it useful in pharmacokinetic studies where it can be used as an internal standard to quantitate ethacrynic acid in biological matrices.
Ethacrynic acid D5 works by inhibiting the Na+-K+-Cl- co-transporter in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle in the kidney, which leads to increased excretion of sodium, chloride, and water. This results in a decrease in blood volume and therefore decreases blood pressure. It is a highly potent diuretic, more potent than furosemide, and is often used when other diuretics have failed.
The chemical formula of Ethacrynic acid D5 is C13H8D5Cl2NO4S2, and its molecular weight is 365.27 g/mol. Its melting point is 137-141ยฐC, and it is soluble in water, ethanol, and methanol. The compound is stable under normal conditions and does not require any special storage or handling.
In conclusion, Ethacrynic acid D5 is a useful tool for pharmacokinetic studies of ethacrynic acid and is a potent diuretic used in the treatment of edema associated with various medical conditions.
