Glycodeoxycholic acid-d4 usage and description
Glycodeoxycholic Acid D4, also known as GDCA-D4, is a deuterated form of glycodeoxycholic acid. It is used as a reference standard for the analysis of bile acids in biological samples using mass spectrometry. GDCA-D4 is a synthetic bile acid that is commonly used as an internal standard in mass spectrometry-based analysis of bile acid metabolites.
Bile acids are produced in the liver and play an important role in the digestion and absorption of fats in the small intestine. GDCA-D4 is a primary bile acid that is conjugated with glycine and is involved in the emulsification and absorption of lipids in the small intestine. It is also a potent activator of the nuclear receptor farnesoid X receptor (FXR) which regulates bile acid synthesis and transport.
GDCA-D4 has a molecular weight of 444.6 g/mol and a chemical formula of C26H42D4NO5. It is stable under normal conditions and can be stored at room temperature for extended periods of time. GDCA-D4 is soluble in organic solvents such as methanol and acetonitrile, but is insoluble in water.
In summary, GDCA-D4 is a useful reference standard for the analysis of bile acid metabolites in biological samples using mass spectrometry. It is a primary bile acid that plays a key role in lipid digestion and absorption in the small intestine and is a potent activator of the FXR nuclear receptor.
