Paclitaxel EP Impurity E usage and description
7-Epipaclitaxel is a semi-synthetic derivative of paclitaxel, which is a natural product extracted from the bark of the Pacific yew tree. It is a chemotherapy drug used in the treatment of various types of cancer, including breast cancer, lung cancer, and ovarian cancer. 7-Epipaclitaxel works by preventing the division of cancer cells, thus inhibiting their growth and spreading throughout the body.
The chemical formula of 7-Epipaclitaxel is C47H51NO14, and its molecular weight is 853.91 g/mol. It is a white to pale yellow crystalline powder that is soluble in methanol, ethanol, and dimethyl sulfoxide.
