Atrazine-D7 usage and description
Atrazine-D7 is a stable isotope-labeled form of atrazine, which is a widely used herbicide for controlling broadleaf and grassy weeds in corn, sugarcane, and other crops. Atrazine-D7 is used as an analytical standard in environmental monitoring, toxicity studies, and other research applications that require accurate quantification of atrazine in complex matrices such as soil, water, and biological samples.
Atrazine-D7 has the same chemical structure as atrazine, except that seven hydrogen atoms are replaced by deuterium atoms, which are heavy isotopes of hydrogen. This labeling allows for the discrimination of atrazine-D7 from natural atrazine in mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques. Atrazine-D7 is commercially available as a pure substance or as a solution in organic solvents such as methanol.
The chemical properties of atrazine-D7 are similar to those of atrazine. It is a white crystalline solid with a molecular weight of 257.3 g/mol and a melting point of 173-175 ยฐC. Atrazine-D7 is slightly soluble in water, but highly soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, methanol, and ethanol. It has a low vapor pressure and is stable under normal storage conditions.
In conclusion, Atrazine-D7 is a useful tool for researchers and analytical chemists who need to accurately quantify atrazine in various samples. Its stable isotope labeling and chemical properties make it an ideal analytical standard for quality control and method development in environmental and toxicological studies.
