 It can be used as an inhibitor in the study of enzymes with alcohol dehydrogenase activity. it can be used to study the properties of enzymes with phenyl groups. 2-Propanol-d8 is useful for the determination of ethanol concentrations and has been shown to have detectable concentrations when dissolved in ethanol at concentrations of 0.2%
