rac-Cinacalcet-d3 Hydrochloride usage and description
Rac-Cinacalcet D3 Hydrochloride is a calcium-sensing receptor agonist that is used in the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The drug is a combination of cinacalcet hydrochloride and vitamin D3, which work together to regulate the levels of calcium and phosphate in the body.
Cinacalcet hydrochloride is a calcimimetic agent that binds to and activates the calcium-sensing receptor on the parathyroid gland, which helps to reduce the secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH). PTH is responsible for increasing the levels of calcium and phosphate in the blood, which can lead to bone loss and calcification of soft tissues. By reducing the levels of PTH, cinacalcet hydrochloride helps to prevent these complications in patients with CKD.
Vitamin D3, on the other hand, is a hormone that is essential for the absorption of calcium in the intestines and the regulation of calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. It works by increasing the expression of calcium transporters in the intestines and kidneys, which helps to enhance the absorption and reabsorption of calcium.
Rac-Cinacalcet D3 Hydrochloride is available in tablet form and is taken orally. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the severity of the condition and the patient's response to the medication. Common side effects of the drug include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache. In rare cases, it may cause hypocalcemia (low levels of calcium in the blood) or hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood). Patients should be monitored regularly for any adverse effects and should consult their doctor if they experience any unusual symptoms.
