Deuterated reagents for laboratory synthesis and analysis
Isotope chemistry

Deuterated Reagents

Reagents for introducing deuterium, preparing labelled molecules and supporting analytical and spectroscopic work.

At a glance

What is a deuterated reagent?

A deuterated reagent contains deuterium at defined positions and is used as a chemical input or laboratory material. Depending on the molecule, it may act as a deuterium source, a labelled solvent or a reactant carried into a larger structure. Selection depends on isotope position, enrichment, exchange stability, chemical purity and reaction compatibility.

Selection

Match the reagent to the chemistry

Isotope position

The required label position determines whether exchange chemistry or a labelled building-block route is more suitable.

Isotopic enrichment

Atom-% deuterium and isotopologue distribution should be considered separately from conventional chemical purity.

Exchange risk

Acidic, basic, aqueous or thermal conditions can cause isotope loss at labile positions. Work-up and storage matter as much as the reaction.

Analytical evidence

NMR and mass spectrometry are commonly used with chromatographic tests to confirm identity, label position and purity.

Pack and handling

Quantity, concentration, solvent, moisture sensitivity and container compatibility are part of the purchase specification.

Route feasibility

If a catalogue reagent does not fit the route, Clearsynth can review custom synthesis or a different labelled intermediate.

Uses

Where deuterated reagents are used

  • Synthesis of deuterium-labelled APIs, metabolites and intermediates
  • Mechanistic, kinetic-isotope-effect and reaction-pathway studies
  • NMR experiments and spectroscopy workflows
  • Preparation of internal standards and analytical reference materials
  • Medicinal chemistry and metabolism research

Practical questions

Ordering and technical support

What information should I provide with an enquiry?

Send the compound name or structure, CAS number if known, required isotope position and enrichment, target quantity, chemical-purity expectation and delivery destination.

Can Clearsynth develop a reagent that is not in the catalogue?

Yes. Feasibility is reviewed against the structure, labelling pattern, scale, analytical requirement and timeline before a custom proposal is made.

Can I request a COA or safety document?

Product-specific documentation can be requested with the catalogue number or product name. Available documentation depends on the material and supply stage.
